TOUR GUIDE
CHRIS PAPE
REALTOR

I got into real estate after a successful, award-winning 20-year career in video production where I excelled in the art of listening, attention to detail, and delivering successful products for clients. In 2004, I married the love of my life, Dana, while living in Colorado. Her career as an active duty officer in the United States Air Force moved us multiple times over the following 13 years, buying and selling our homes along the way. It was this exposure to the home buying and selling process that sparked my interest in real estate. I learned first-hand how important a steady stream of communication between agent and client was to the success of every deal. Following Dana’s retirement in 2015, we moved to the Lake Norman area where I was finally able to pursue my passion for real estate.

CHRIS'S FAVORITES

Favorite View: Walking down Myston Lane towards the back of Becket is easily my favorite view from this neighborhood because you can see the neighboring farm land and stream. And even though houses block most of that scenic landscape, you can still see the farm, animals, and fields.

Favorite Local Grocery Store: Harris Teeter and Publix Super Market are your closest grocery stores for your “everyday” shopping. A Whole Foods is just east of Birkdale Village, and an Earth Fare is just south of Gilead near I-77. If you’re feeling nostalgic, check out Old Store Produce on the corner of Beatties Ford and 73 (just west on Gilead for about 2 miles). This locally owned farm stand has fruits and vegetables from local growers, as well as some baked goods, pickled products, and more!

Favorite Coffee Shop: This depends on your time, budget, and tastes because just about every type of coffee shop you can imagine is located within 5-15 minutes of Beckett. If you have some time, many locals like to hang out at Waterbean Coffee on Sam Furr. It’s a popular gathering spot for meetings and lunch. I also like Madalyn’s in downtown Huntersville; it makes all its own syrups and is a more intimate setting for a quiet cup of coffee.

Favorite Restaurant: Dana and I LOVE to eat out, so this list is quite extensive, too extensive to post here. However, if you’re looking for a pretty good margarita and decent Mexican food, check out Verde Mexican and Nuevo Latin Fusion on Gilead. Actually, this whole area has some pretty tasty stops, including Famous Toastery, Pinky’s, and Killington’s. Jet’s Pizza is also in this area and delivers, and if you like a New York pie, check out Mama’s Pizzeria.

Beckett Community Tour

Q & A WITH CHRIS

Relationship to Beckett: I live just up the street off Gilead Road and Beatties Ford. I travel by this beautiful community every day and often drive through the neighborhood to see which homes are on the market.

What do people like most about living in Beckett? Beckett’s easy access to I-77 and I-485—as well as convenient proximity to great shops, restaurants, and schools—is a huge benefit of living here. The community green spaces, large homesite lots, and changing elevations within the development offer some stunning views while creating an inviting, comfortable neighborhood feel. There are only 180 homes within Beckett.

Tell Us About Beckett

History

Beckett was started around 2007/08 by a developer who had to sell it after the economic adjustment we all experienced during that time. CalAtlantic Homes stepped in around 2009 and built about 160 of the 180 homes within the community. There are no more lots or new construction homes available in Beckett; it is completely built out.

Amenities

As of September 2017, the median sales price for homes in Beckett is just over $400,000 with an average square foot price of over $130. This is a higher price point neighborhood and so the size and quality of construction are reflected in those prices. It also features a community clubhouse, pool, and playground.

Restaurants and Shopping

Beckett is conveniently located near Birkdale Village, which features restaurants (Dressler’s, Eez, Bad Daddy’s, Brixx, Midwood Smokehouse, and a few fast food choices), shopping, and events in the square for the whole family. If it doesn’t have what you’re looking for, Northlake Mall is just 10 minutes down I-77.

Things to Do

Residents love to jog or walk around this area, and the community swimming pool is another great option for family fun and exercise, but if you’re looking for more intense workouts, then I recommend Anytime Fitness just off Gilead. There is a PoleFit Club also on Gilead . . . I’ll let you do the research on its specialties. But in all seriousness, from Anytime Fitness to CrossFit Huntersville to The Little Gym for kids, there are a TON of family and fitness opportunities within minutes of Beckett. And about 20 minutes southwest of Beckett, you’ll find the U.S. National Whitewater Center, which is a great family friendly place for biking, hiking, zip lining, kayaking, rafting, or just eating and watching all the activities.
